  ● Introduction of Speaker:
  Eric Maskin is the Adams University Professor and Professor of Economics and Mathematics at Harvard University. He received his A.B. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Harvard and was a postdoctoral fellow at Jesus College, Cambridge University. Before rejoining the Harvard faculty in 2012, he taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1977–1984), Harvard (1985–2000), and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (2000–2011). In 2007, Professor Maskin was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, together with Leonid Hurwicz and Roger Myerson, for their pioneering work in laying the foundations of mechanism design theory. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Foreign Member of the Royal Society. Professor Maskin’s research spans game theory, contract theory, social choice theory, political economy, and income distribution, and his work has profoundly shaped modern economic theory and policy design. In his upcoming lecture, “Why Globalization Has Failed to Reduce Inequality,” Professor Maskin will draw on his strong theoretical foundation and global perspective to explore the relationship between globalization and inequality. The talk will examine how globalization influences the distribution of economic opportunities across countries and individuals, and reflect on the potential role of institutions and policies in promoting more inclusive and equitable development.
