Dr. Axel Kaschte has more than 30 years of experience in the library industry in various positions. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Humboldt-Universit�t zu Berlin in Germany. Prior to joining OCLC, he was a software developer and project manager at union catalog projects in Germany. As a product strategy director at OCLC, Dr. Kaschte leads the union catalog solutions, which seek to combine the diversity of national metadata policies and practices with the benefits of globalized services. He is also responsible for strategic direction and introduction of OCLC's next generation library solutions, focusing on bridging cultural differences in a global environment.
