2.時 間：102年4月18日(星期四) 下午3時30分至5時20分。
Just as genetic altruism shapes animal behavior, a more complex memetic altruism influences human behavior. This lecture will briefly describe how such altruism arises and evolves broadens its range. Memetic altruism plays an important role in economic development. It may not obviously show itself in the competitive economic games we play, but it limits opportunism, allowing markets to function and contracts to be enforced. The degree of economic development in an economy is limited not only by the quality of its economic institutions, but the degree and character of the altruism that permeates the economy. In the short run, the challenge is to develop institutions which match the memetic environment. In the long run, the challenge is to create institutions which will change the environment.
