活動內容Electronic databases are literally filled with millions of abstracts from every academic field, so the competition for getting your article read and cited is fierce. Studies on researcher behavior have found that many people reject reading a paper if the abstract fails to grab their attention in the first two sentences. One reason for this rejection may be due to researchers not giving as much thought to writing the abstract as they do the rest of their paper. They fail to consider that the abstract is a critical promotional device for the whole paper. Like a “shop sign” that attracts a shopper to come into a store, the abstract should invite the reader to venture in further and read more of the paper. This workshop looks into ways to enhance the style of your abstract and make it stand out in a crowded field of ideas.
