To recruit domestic and foreign scholars with distinctive academic achievements, NTU established the “Fu Ssu-Nien Memorial Chair Professorship,” aiming to improve its academic standings.
The recipients shall be full-time NTU professors in the field of liberal arts and social sciences with at least 10 years of research or teaching experience and have achieved exceptional results in their respective fields; in addition, newly hired full-time faculty members with international prominence are also eligible.
Under the program, one recipient will be selected each year to receive grants for one year.
The Chair Professorship was initially established in 1988 as “Hu Shih Memorial Chair Professorship” and was conferred exclusively upon the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts. In 2014, it adopted its present name and was expanded to cover the field of social sciences.
