To improve its academic standings, NTU established NTU Chair Professorships to recruit and retain domestic and international scholars with outstanding academic achievements. Prominent figures such as Nobel Laureates, Academia Sinica academicians, MOE National Professorship appointees, or recipients of equivalent honors can be considered for this appointment.
From the Professorships’ inception in 1997 to 2023, 236 distinguished scholars had been named NTU Chair Professors. Each year, NTU hosts an open ceremony to commend the extraordinary recipients of that year.
